For our Premier League Predictions today, we’re looking at the relegation battle between West Brom and Newcastle United at the Hawthorns. Climbing out of the drop zone look s a near-impossible task, even for a season pro like Big Sam – see what our Premier League tips and predictions think.
OK, so we’re exaggerating slightly, but West Brom have now gone three games unbeaten, which is the best run they’ve had so far this season. The manner of this short run is far from impressive – last weekend’s win over Brighton was extremely lucky for Big Sam’s side, and was preceded by draws against Burnley and Manchester United. Recent results do show improvement at the back at least – prior to this 3 game run they had conceded two more goals in each of their last six, but they haven’t let in more than a single goal in their last three.
Newcastle Edge Closer to Danger
Since Newcastle last met West Brom back on December 12, they’ve played 17 games in all competitions, and won just two of them. They now sit just three points above the bottom three and that’s only thanks to their early season form. Should they drop into the bottom three in the coming weekend, our Premier League predictions suggest that it’s curtains for under-fire manager Steve Bruce. To make matters worse for the Magpies, there have been reports of a training ground bust-up this week, with Matt Ritchie reportedly calling his manager a “coward”.
The last time these two sides met at St. James’ Park back in December, Newcastle saw off the Baggies with a 2-1 victory. As we mentioned above, the Magpies then went onto hit a poor 17 game run that saw them pick up just two victories in all competitions. The Baggies have fared only slightly better since then, although they have managed to build up some home form, having lost just one of their last four. Draws and losses are the most common results for both sides, so our Premier League predictions find it hard to pick a winner between these two struggling sides.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed the above information, our Premier League predictions today point to a draw at Sunday lunchtime.
A Share of the Spoils for the Strugglers
An undeniably cagey contest lies in wait, as both sides need a result of sorts to keep their Premier League position safe. Of the two sides, Newcastle will be the happiest with a point, as that would keep them just above hot-on-their-heels Fulham, who need to pull off an upset against Spurs to continue their pursuit of the Magpies. West Brom are currently six points behind Fulham, and so will see this as an opportunity to close the gap to just three points with a win – given that Spurs are prediction to beat the Cottagers. The problem is, that West Brom just aren’t very good at winning – last weekend’s victory over Brighton should rightfully have been a draw at best, if not a Brighton victory. Defensive tactical approaches twinned with a sheer lack of attacking talent should result in the two sides cancelling each other out. We’re backing a draw at odds of 3.3 with bet365.
