Chris Coleman was the man at the helm five years ago as the Dragons rocketed to a semi-finals place before losing to eventual champions, Portugal, and with Ryan Giggs’ legal troubles forcing Robert Page in as the caretaker manager, Wales have their work cut out in Group A.

Wales
As is often the case with Wales, they head into this fixture in topsy-turvy form, having won just two of their five fixtures in 2021, although these victories did come against the Czech Republic and Mexico, with the latter ranked higher than them in the FIFA World Rankings.
However, Gareth Bale and co. were brought back down to earth slightly when they met with France in a warm-up game this month, as the world champions thumped them 3-0, just before Wales played out a lacklustre draw with Albania three days later.
Furthermore, the Welsh also made hard work once again in actually qualifying for Euro 2020, with the 2016 semi-finalists winning four of their eight fixtures and therefore squeezed past Slovakia into the second automatic qualification spot in Group E.
Switzerland
Whilst Wales struggled in their qualification process, Switzerland breezed through Group D and lost just one of their eight fixtures. Now, after coming off the back of just one win in eight throughout 2020, Vladimir Petković’s men have hit form at the perfect time and are now on a win streak of five, scoring 16 goals and conceding just four.
These results haven’t exactly been over elite nations, however, with only Finland an attendee at the finals this summer within these results, and the United States of America were the highest-ranked country from their last five wins.
This Euro 2020 prediction is one of the more complex Euro 2020 predictions this weekend, with both teams being quite evenly matched.
Wales are the most recent winners of a clash between the two, having beaten the Swiss in the 2012 European Championship qualifiers. However, Switzerland won the reverse fixture a year prior, and they have also beaten the Dragons four more times, with Wales’ only other victory coming back in 1951 in an international friendly.

Historically, despite only meeting seven times down the years, Switzerland have been the victors here, although Wales did win the most recent clash, making it a win each this century. Throughout the 1990s, they did meet three times and Switzerland won all three by a 2-0 scoreline.

Our Betting Tip for Today
In this Euro 2020 tips and prediction article, we can’t look past Switzerland and we are backing them to win but to a relatively low scoreline, and we think they’ll get the three points by winning 2-0.
Switzerland
Given that Switzerland’s form is vastly superior to Wales’, and how the Dragons enter the tournament with a caretaker manager, they already have their back up against the wall here. At the same time, superstars like Bale and Aaron Ramsey are lacking their usual threatening form, and the two played just 42 league games between them this campaign, whilst Daniel James netted just three Premier League goals in 15 outings for Manchester United this season.
As for Switzerland, Mario Gavranovic bagged 17 league goals in 27 games for Dinamo Zagreb, whilst Haris Seferovic scored 22 times in 31 fixtures for Benfica – only Kieffar Moore and Bale reached double figures for their club this season in the Wales camp.
We’re backing Switzerland to win 2-0 in our Euro 2020 prediction this weekend, and you can get odds of 17/2 at Bet365 for this to happen.
