Knockout football is in full flow, with all the highs and lows that come with it. Both teams playing in Wembley on the 7th of July have certainly had ups and downs so far this tournament, especially Denmark. Both teams will be vying to land themselves in the final, with a shot at the big prize.
Both England and Denmark have success in international football. For England, it is an infamous wait of 55 years for another major international final, since their last in 1966, which needs no introduction. Denmark famously surprised everybody with the ultimate underdog story at the 1992 European championships, winning it all. Can they do it again? Read below to find out, as well as learn about our betting tips for this matchup.
The Great Wall of EnglandEngland have gone from slight concern after a draw with Scotland only a few weeks ago, to now being the favourite for most bookies to win the tournament. This is in no small part due to the favourable run they have to the final, avoiding a lot of the so called “big teams”, but it is disingenuous to just chalk it up to luck. England’s tactics and defence have really made them a brick wall at the back, having not yet conceded a goal in the tournament. They are not easy to break down at all and have great forwards to give them the advantage.
The Danes have captured our hearts
The storylines behind Denmark’s fantastic run will be in the minds and hearts of everybody for years to come. Having come from the horrors of their first match, with what happened to their teammate Christian Erikson, to now being on the brink of a final appearance, it is truly remarkable. I think everybody outside of England is hoping Denmark pulls something out of the bag, but they have a great challenge ahead of them : England at Wembley. It may be one step too far for the valiant Danes.
Denmark and England have faced up against each other as early as 1948, with the first competitive fixture between the two resulting in a 5-2 England victory at the 1956 World Cup. They also drew in the 1992 Euros, where Denmark pulled off their historic tournament win. Overall, the competitive record stands at 10 games, with 5 England wins, 3 draws and 2 Danish victories. Recent forms also favours Denmark, with a draw and win in their last two games against England in the Nations League last autumn. They may look to those results to try to inspire themselves on Wednesday.

To date, England have won four and drawn one, scoring 8 while remaining unbreached at the back. On the other hand, Denmark recovered from two initial losses to win three in a row and put themselves in this position, scoring 11 and conceding 5 along the way.
Having looked back over the history between the two teams, as well as current form, we believe that England will edge this game, and we would go for an England win with over 2.5 goals, currently on offer for 21/10 at both Bet365 and Boylesports.
Italy should prove too strongThis is no doubt going to be a well-remembered tie for years to come, with both teams having great form and with an unenviable task. It would be easy to chalk Denmark’s form into an emotion-driven attempt to honour their recovering teammate, Christian Erikson, but that would discredit some of the excellent work they’ve done. Current manager Kasper Hjulmand employs entertaining tactics that has seen him attain a 67% win record as boss, an excellent level. England, however, have home fans, a great defensive structure and excellent forwards, which leans more to the likelihood of a “home” victory. That said, expect goals! Both teams have scored 4 goals in one game already, Denmark having done it twice, and if there is an early goal, this could be a high scoring fixture.
