We’ve taken a look at past meetings and both teams’ form this season to come up with our expert betting tips for this match. With a top 4 spot looking to be a stretch too far for both sides, Europa League football is the realistic target that both sides are chasing.
Spurs’ restart marked by inconsistency
Tottenham’s form since the restart has been a little shaky, but is much better than the disastrous run they had leading up to the enforced break. Jose Mourinho’s side returned to football with a respectable 1-1 draw against a strong Man United side and appeared to build on that with 2-0 win over West Ham, only to then slump to a 3-1 defeat against Sheffield United. They bounced back from this with a 1-0 win over Everton, thanks only to a first half own goal from Michael Keane. Thursday night’s drab 0-0 draw against Bournemouth is not what they needed ahead of the London Derby.
Arsenal on the road to recovery
After a disastrous return to competitive football following the 3 month hiatus, which saw them humbled 3-0 by Man City and lose 2-1 from a winning position against Brighton, Mikel Arteta looks to have steadied the ship. Arsenal are now unbeaten in their last 5, with an 84th minute Jamie Vardy equaliser on Sunday being the only thing stopping that run from being a perfect 5. After looking injury prone in the first two games of the restart, Arsenal have no apparent new injuries going into this one. Eddie Nketiah will miss the derby through suspension following his sending off midweek.
The last two games between the North London sides have ended in draws with both teams scoring. This is the first North London derby to take place in the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so Spurs will be keen to impress, however the lack of fans will detract from the grandeur of the occasion.
The last time Arsenal beat Spurs on their own patch was an EFL cup win back in 2015. To find their last away triumph over Spurs in the Premier League, you have to go all the way back to a 1-0 win in March 2014.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed all of the above information, we believe that all the signs are pointing to a 3rd consecutive Premier League draw in North London this Sunday.
Another North London Derby Draw
For Jose Mourinho, this is his first taste of the North London Derby, for Mikel Arteta, it’s his first taste as manager, but he knows it all too well as a player. Arsenal look the slightly more buoyant side at the minute, however there are a couple of crippling stats against them. Arsenal haven’t beaten Spurs away in the league since 2014, and haven’t beaten any top 6 side away in the league since a 2-0 win over Man City in 2015. To add to that, there’s also Jose Mourinho’s strong record against Arsenal; in 20 games against the Gunnars, he’s lost only twice.
Still Arsenal have looked a little sharper than their North London rivals in recent showings, so while we don’t see them winning, we can’t see them getting beat. That’s why our betting tip for this Sunday is a draw, which you can place with 888Sport on odds of 3.5.
