For our Premier League predictions today, we’re focussing on Sunday’s clash on the south coast, where strong starters Southampton host an inconsistent Manchester United side. It’s a tough one to call, but our Premier League tips & predictions experts have most definitely got you covered!
Saints start strong
The Saints have seen their strongest start ever to a Premier League season, which also saw them sit top of the table for the first time since September 1988. However, they have now fallen just outside of the top 4 following a 1-1 draw with Wolves on Monday night. If they beat Manchester United on Sunday, they could potentially move into 3rd place, depending on results elsewhere. The Saints will still be without their top goalscoring threat Danny Ings for this, however they have managed to overcome Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle in his absence, with plenty of other players stepping up.
Are United back on track?
It’s been another yo-yo season of inconsistency for Man United this season, defying some expert Premier League predictions, while affirming others. The Pogba mystery continues to divide puppets and Rashford has been performing better off the pitch than on it of late. However, United have now notched up 3 wins on the bounce since their shock defeat to Champions League new boys İstanbul Başakşehir. Their midweek vengeance over the Turkish side came in the form of a convincing 4-1 win. However they were lucky to edge past West Brom in the Premier League last weekend, needing a controversial VAR penalty decision to win.
Both of the meetings between these sides ended in score draws, a stat that some may find surprising. This fixture last season was played in August, and saw a resilient Southampton side manage to hold on for a 1-1 draw despite going down to 10 men. Despite managing 4 draws in their last 6 against United, the Saints haven’t won against the Red Devils since 2016. What will perhaps have more of an influence on our Premier League predictions today is the fact that both teams have scored in each of the last 4 meetings between these two sides.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed the above information, our top betting tip for this Premier League prediction weekend suggests a draw between the two sides.
A 3rd score draw in a row lie ahead
The last two games between these sides have ended in a score draw, with the most recent finish 2-2 in an empty Old Trafford back in July. With Southampton being one of this season’s surprise packages, and United proving to be inconsistent, yet seemingly improving, our experts feel there’s not much separating these sides. The Saints are unbeaten in their last 5 despite being without Danny Ings, and will be desperate to keep that run going to 6. At the other end, United are looking to make it 3 straight wins in the Premier League for the first time this season. Both sides will therefore be on edge and will go out not to lose. Our betting tip for this weekend’s game is 2 total goals exact with Bet365 at odds of 3.6. The goals will most likely be shared by the two sides.
