For our Premier League predictions today we’re focussing on North London, as Arsenal host surprise package Aston Villa in what looks to be a tasty tie. Our Premier League tips, predictions & more are to follow, so read on to find our expert analysis.
Arsenal have improved, but are yet to impress
Arsenal ended last season strongly under Arteta, as they beat Liverpool in the league as well as Manchester City and Chelsea in the FA Cup. This Premier League campaign has been a little slow, however. They have undoubtedly improved defensively, but lack creativity. As a result, they’ve beaten all of the teams we’d expect them to beat, but came up short in all of their 3 meetings against top 6 challenging teams. Arteta does look to be doing a good job, but it will take 2 or 3 season to properly get the wheels in motion.
Villa’s bubble bursts
Aston Villa defied most Premier League predictions to start off this season as the surprise package. They won each of their 4 opening games, which included a 7-2 battering of reigning champions Liverpool. That bubble looks to have finally burst, however, as they have now slumped to two consecutive defeats, including a 3-0 home humbling at the hands of Leeds United. They’ve conceded 9 goals all season, with 7 of those being shipped across the last two games. In Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins there are still plenty of goals in this side, but they need to rediscover their early defensive form.
When these teams last met at Villa Park back in July, Villa ran out 1-0 winners – a result that would prove pivotal in keeping Aston Villa in the top flight. In their previous meeting at the Emirates, Arsenal ran out 3-2 winners in a thrilling encounter. Prior to that, the sides hadn’t met since the 2015/16 season, when Arsenal done the double over Villa in the Lion’s relegation season. Our Premier League predictions for this weekend’s fixture point to a very tightly fought affair. It all hinges on Arsenal’s attacking quality on the day.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed recent form and the information above, our Premier League predictions today point to a slender Arsenal win with a clean sheet on Sunday night.
Arsenal to shut out Villa
Defensively, Arsenal have come on leaps and bounds under Mikel Arteta, as they currently have the best defence in the league. The problem has been creativity in midfield to provide service to the quality strikers they have up top. As a result, they have only found the net once in their last 3 Premier League games. What might give them confidence going into this tie, is the fact they put 3 past Molde in the Europa League on Thursday night. Villa have attacking talent, but look fairly inconsistent. They scored 3 in their last outing against Southampton and yet still managed to lose the game. We therefore see Villa coming up short against Arsenal’s organised back line. That’s why our betting tip for this match is to back a home clean sheet at 2.62 with Bet365.
