For our Premier League predictions today, we’re turning our attention to Old Trafford, where Ole Gunnar Solkjaer’s Manchester United side are making their Premier League debut this season. They kick off this campaign hosting Crystal palace in what looks to be a testy first tie for the Reds.
United look to kick start their campaign
Due to their ventures in the later stages of the Europa League, United are kick starting their 2020/21 campaign a week later than most. Their latest preseason outing was a disappointing 1-0 loss to Aston Villa. However, our Premier League predictions this week point to the Reds bouncing back from this with a winning start to competitive football. If we look at history, Manchester United have won each of their last 5 opening games. And even without fans, playing at Old Trafford should work in their favour. Brundo Frenandes opening his goal account on Saturday looks to be a good shout.
Palace luck to have a winning start
Roy Hodgson’s Crystal palace got their 2020/21 campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 win over Southampton thanks to a first half goal from start man Wilfred Zaha. However, Crystal Palace could be considered fortunate to have come away with all 3 points. This is because they spent 80 minutes of the game often struggling to hold on to their early lead, rather than threatening to extend it. Our Premier League predictions today point to a tougher time for the Eagles on Saturday, as United will be far more likely to bury their chances than Southampton were last weekend.
Last season, there was a win for either side over the two fixtures. Palace beat a then inconsistent United side at Old Trafford in August last year, for United to exact revenge almost 11 months later in an empty Selhurst Park after the pandemic enforced restart. Palace’s win last year was their only victory over United in the Premier League era. While they will be eager to repeat last season’s early season triumph, our Premier League tips & predictions experts don’t see this as very likely to happen. The reds shutout Palace in July, which is likely to happen again.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Our Premier League predictions this week all point to a Manchester United win at Old Trafford, with Palace very likely to fail to get on the scoresheet.
Manchester United to shut out Palace
Given Manchester United’s disappointing end to their Europa League campaign and disappointing friendly against Aston Villa, we’re not expecting anything too thrilling from the Reds this weekend. However, Crystal Palace are plagued with 5 defensive injuries and looked shaky against Southampton on Saturday despite managing to hold on for the win. However, the reds have far more formidable attacking talent who will likely prove to be far more clinical in front of goal than Southampton.
United should see a lot of the ball, meaning that they’ll be likely to grab a penalty. Especially given that they’ve had more penalties than anyone in each of the last 2 seasons. With Bruno Fernandes having a perfect penalty record since arriving in Manchester, we’re backing him as first goalscorer. That’s why our betting tip for this match is a home win + Fernandes to score first on odds of 5.62 with Paddy Power.
