For our EFL Cup predictions today, we are of course looking at the final between Manchester City and Tottenham. Read on below to find our EFL Cup tips, betting info and predictions for this massive fixture that has been somewhat diluted by other news.
Man City Looking for First Trophy of Treble
The dream of an unprecedented quadruple may have died for Manchester City thanks to last weekend’s semi final loss to Chelsea. Additionally, the Premier League isn’t quite as cosy as it once was, as United have made some ground following City’s Premier League loss to Leeds two weeks ago. Still Pep’s side should be confident of at least a double, starting off with the EFL Cup – a trophy City have won three times since Pep took the helm. John Stones is suspended and Agureo and De Bruyne are both injury doubts, which could alter our EFL Cup predictions for the final.
Spurs Sack Jose Less than A Week Before Final
It was a would-be-blockbuster move that almost went under the radar thanks to the European Super League news. Nevertheless it’s probably one of the most influential factors regarding our EFL Cup predictions. Tottenham have sacked Jose Mourinho and replaced him on a temporary basis with 29 year old novice Ryan mason. Despite recent performances, Jose is a master of one off matches, so the sacking ahead of the game is huge. On top of that Harry Kane is also an injury doubt ahead of the game. Still, Spurs did win their first game under Ryan Mason midweek.
When these side met at the Etihad back in February, Man City ran out comfortable 3-0 winners, in what was their first victory over Tottenham in four meetings. The reverse Premier League fixtures came back in November, in a Spurs victory that was a Jose Mourinho masterclass, reminiscent of his time at Porto and Chelsea. Man City enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, but were undone by two Spurs goals and a solidly organised Spurs performance. This is the first time that Man City and Spurs have met in either the FA or EFL Cup in the Premier League era.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed the above information, our EFL Cup predictions today point to a fairytale win for Tottenham!
Tottenham Fairytale Win to Shock City
So Jose Mourinho is gone, Harry Kane is an injury doubt and Spurs have put a 29 year old coach with no top flight experience in charge. You might then be forgive for thinking that we’re mad to back them over a City outfit that have won this cup three times under their current manager. However, there is some reasoning behind our madness. City’s form has dipped slightly recently, seeing them exit the FA Cup and losing some ground to Manchester United in the title race. Moreover, Pep has a lot of pressure to do well in the Champions League, and the away leg of their semi final against PSG comes just three days after this game. City will already have one eye on Europe at a time when their form has been dipping slightly, meanwhile Spurs suddenly have a very little to lose. We’re therefore backing a Spurs win at odds of 5.75 with Bet365.
