To come up with our Scotland Premiership prediction this weekend, we’ve analysed the stats from last season, recent matches between the sides and both teams’ preparations during the prolonged break. There’s also the small matter of fanless football to take into account.
Hibs hope for homeground glory
Hibs league form had taken a slump before the SPFL was drawn to a premature conclusion back in March. However they did have a Scottish Cup semi final derby against Hearts in pipeline, which now looks set to be played in a fortnight’s time. In our years of coming up with expert Scottish Premier League predictions, we’ve never had to size up a side that’s starting a new season with unfinished business from last season, so it’ll be interesting to see how this affects Jack Ross’ side. Their most recent friendly was a 3-1 away defeat to a weakened Celtic side.
The road hasn’t been kind to Killie
Starting the season with an away clash definitely won’t be what Alex Dyer would’ve wanted for his side. While Kilmarnock were a decent unit at home last season, 11 of their 15 league defeats happened on the road. Given that their first home game that follows this fixture is against champions Celtic, Killie will be desperate to grab something from this game. Killie’s last preseason run out was a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Dundee United. Despite the result, the workrate of the Kilmarnock squad was commended and goal scorer Greg Kiltie particularly impressed.
The last time these two teams met Hibs ran out 2-1 winners at Rugby Park. When they met at Easter Road last season, Killie managed to hold their hosts to a draw. Prior to that Killie notched up a 4 match unbeaten run against the Hibees, winning 3 in the process. However, Kilmarnock haven’t beaten Hibs at Easter Road since 2014. Both sides scored in their last 2 encounters and if our Scottish Premier League predictions are correct, this is a trend that looks set to continue.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Our Scotland Premiership prediction for this Saturday’s clash is for the two sides to share the spoils at Easter Road.
Coming up with Scottish Premier league tips for the opening fixtures of this season has been a unique experience given everything involved. While Kilmarnock have a terrible record on the road, and an even worse one at Easter Road, it looks likely they’ll manage to snatch something from this game. Alex Dyer’s side will be motivated to get at least something from the game, as they’ll realistically have written off getting anything against Celtic at Rugby Park in the following fixture.
Furthermore, the Hibs squad will miss being spurred on by their boisterous home support, however that should be enough to see Kilmarnock get one over on their hosts completely. Our betting tip for this game is for a score draw, which you can place with Bet365, who are offering odds of 4.5.
