Aberdeen bounce back from Covid postponement
After seeing two games postponed after a number of players broke the lockdown guidelines the Dons have bounced back to notch up 3 wins on the bounce, including a 6-0 thrashing of NSÍ Runavík in the Europa League on Thursday night. Key to Aberdeen’s strengthening has been the return of Irishman Jonny Hayes who returned to the club over the summer after spending 3 years with Celtic. If they keep their heads down, Aberdeen once again look like one of the few teams who could put pressure on the Old Firm at the top of the table this season.
Recently, this fixture hasn’t been kind to Hibs, as they’ve beaten the Don’s just once in their last 9 games. That one win was, however, a convincing 3 – 0 triumph at Easter Road last season. The Dons have won 4 of their last 6 against the Hibees and even managed to hold them to a 1-1 draw when playing with 9 men last season. Their most recent encounter, at Pittodrie back in March, was a comfortable 3-1 win for Aberdeen. That being said, Hibs look to be a stronger unit this season which we have to consider for this weekend’s Scotland Premiership prediction.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Hibernian go into this weekend’s clash as fairly comfortable favourites, at odds of 2.4. The outside bet on Aberdeen also looks quite tempting at 3.1 given their recent record against Hibs. Both sides look fairly well matched here so it is a tough one for us to call. However, we do expect Hibs to edge it given their home advantage. Despite the Hibees’ good defensive record so far this season, the likelihood of Aberdeen grabbing a goal does seem pretty high given that both teams have scored in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two sides.
