For our FA Cup predictions today, focussing on the clash in North London, as a newly rejuvenated Arsenal side host struggling Newcastle. Can Arsenal take one step closer to retaining the trophy. FInd out our what the experts think below with our FA Cup tips & predictions.
Arsenal bounce back from awful slump
How quickly things can change in football. After their worst run of form in decades put Arsenal in a potential relegation battle, 3 wins on the bounce have since changed the tide dramatically, Arsenal now sit in 11th, but only 6 points off the top 4. Had you asked the question a month ago, few FA Cup predictions would’ve pitted Arsenal as candidates to retain the trophy – however that now looks all the more likely. Squad rotation and giving youth a chance has paid off dividends and the recent form and leadership shown by left back Kerian Tierney has inspired hope.
Newcastle left with little festive cheer
It was a bleak festive period for the Magpies, as Steve Bruce’s side went on a 6 game winless run, which included an EFL Cup exit to Championship side Brentford. The poor run of results in the league means they have now taken their hosts’ place in lower echelons of the table. They sit in 15th place, 8 point above the relegation zone. A cup run would’ve seemed ideal for Newcastle at the start of the season, but with their position in the league bordering on dangerous, it seems doubtful that Steve Bruce can afford the squad rotation that cup games require.
Arsenal have won their last 3 games against Newcastle to nil, so a both teams to score bet looks unlikely in our FA Cup predictions today. In fact, Arsenal have won 7 of their last 8 against the Magpies, keeping a clean sheet in 7 of those games. These teams haven’t met since February of last year, back when crowds were allowed to be packed inside stadiums. On that occasion Mikel Arteta’s rejuvenated Gunners ran out 4-0 winners at the Emirates. Almost one year on, and the Gunners are rejuvenated again under Arteta, so we could see a repeat of their last encounter.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed the above information, our FA Cup predictions foresee an Arsenal win on Saturday, with a shutout highly likely.
Gunners to make it 4 wins on the bounce
No surprises to Arsenal as odds on favourites for this one, but had it taken place a month ago things could’ve been very different. Arsenal have scored 8 and conceded just 1 in their last 3 games, with that single goal being conceded against Chelsea, who have a formidable attacking line. Newcastle certainly don’t posses much of an attacking threat at the moment, as they’ve scored just once in their last 4 games. Still, Steve Bruce does like to try and make his side difficult to break down, so it might take Arsenal a bit of time. Ultimately, Arsenal will get the job done, possibly by fielding the youngsters used in their Europa League campaign. Our betting tip is to back an Arsenal clean sheet with SkyBet at odds of 2.38 – pretty generous odds given the recent stats and Arsenal’s clean sheet record against Newcastle.
