In this Betastic article, we will give you our Euro 2020 predictions for the game and tell you where to find the best odds. We will closely look at both sides, assess their recent results, as well as reviewing their previous meetings and breaking down the key statistics. It is all aimed at giving you the key information you need to place a winning bet.

The current constitution

EnglandNo more years of hurt?

Are the stars finally aligning for England. After so much major tournament heartache, this year looks like an excellent opportunity for England to go all the way. They have home advantage, a favourable draw and a highly talented team.

The Three Lions eased through their qualifying group without conceding a goal. Two 1-0 victories came either side of a goalless draw with Scotland. Whilst England have been solid defensively, their lack of creativity in attack and the poor form of Harry Kane are concerns. Nevertheless, this could be a good time to be playing a German side who look vulnerable at the back.

GermanyLow’s last hurrah?

After 15 years, Joachim Low will step down as Germany manager after Euro 2020. Whether this game is Low’s last will largely depend upon which version of the German side turns up. If it is the version that laboured to a 2-2 draw with Hungary then you fear the worst, but if it is the side that demolished Portugal 4-2, they will be very hard to stop. Germany showed plenty of attacking verve in the group stage, but they conceded some very soft goals.

Kai Havertz, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller all appear to be in fine form in attack, however the likes of Manuel Neuer and Mats Hummels are beginning to show their age in defence. Possession will be key for Germany. Control that and they have an excellent chance of victory.

Head to Head

Few international matches are as storied as England v Germany. The sides have met on 32 previous occasions, including a World Cup final and a European Championship Semi Final.

Their most recent meeting in a major tournament saw Germany run out 4-1 winners in the Second Round of the 2010 World Cup. Their last meeting in the European Championships resulted in a 1-0 win for England thanks to an Alan Shearer header.

Highlight #3
England’s tally of two goals is the lowest of any side featuring in the knockout stage.

Our Betting Tip for Today

After assessing all of the key information, our Euro 2020 prediction today is that England and Germany will draw in 90 minutes.

England and Germany to go all the way

This looks like a close matchup. England have been steady but unspectacular so far, whilst Germany have produced Jekyll and Hyde performances. That being said, we think the Germans will play with more control and restraint here, which could make for a cagey game. Under Gareth Southgate, England have been risk averse, so will be content to bide their time and wait for Germany to tire.

Overall, this has extra time (and possibly penalties) written all over it. So we are predicting a draw at the end of 90 minutes.
