This round of the Belarussian Premier League serves up some midweek madness as reigning champions Dynamo Brest host current league leaders and 15 time title winners BATE Borisov. Wednesday night is the first of a double header between the two sides as they’re set to meet in the cup 4 days later.

Last season, Dynamo Brest ended a 13 season run of BATE dominance, becoming the first team other than BATE to win the title since Shakhtyor Soligorsk in 2005. We’ve analysed this season’s form, plus the history between the two sides to bring you our betting tip for this one.
Rather than gaining momentum from last season’s surprise heroics last season, Dynamo have looked hungover from their celebrations, as they’ve struggled to build any kind of form so far this campaign. Dynamo had managed to pick up two wins on the bounce before last week, when they lost to Energietik in the capital, meaning they’ve now lost 3 of their last 5 in the league. Despite their inconsistency, they sit just 6 points below the visitors and host them in the cup on Sunday. To save their season, it’s vital that Dynamo get something from one of these two games.
After an awful start to the season under new manager Kirill Alshevsky, a Borisov native, BATE have finally gotten their act together over the past few weeks. They go into this match as league leaders for the second week in a row, after a convincing home win last week against surprise title challengers Slutsk. With 5 wins in their last 5, BATE look like a side in form and will be fairly confident of doing a league and cup double over their hosts this week. With goals coming from a variety of players, BATE’s attacking threat is formidable and versatile.
Last season, this fixture very much favoured Dynamo Brest, as they knocked BATE out of the Super Cup with a convincing 3-1 away win at the start of the campaign. Dynamo returned to the Borisov Arena 6 weeks later and ran out 1-0 winners, laying down an early marker in what went onto be their first ever title winning season. In the return fixture last season, the two sides shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Regional Sport Complex Brestskiy. This time round, the roles are reversed as it’s BATE who are in form away side going into the match.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Based on recent form, and the fact they look to be sending out a message to the rest of the league, we’re going for a BATE win this Wednesday.
BATE to restore natural order
Having found the net 11 times in their last 4 outings, BATE will be fairly confident of putting a few past their out-of-form hosts to brush off last season as a one-off fluke. Despite Dynamo Brest’s inconsistency so far this season, they have only failed to find the net at home on one occasion this season, so we do expect them to score. BATE do have 4 clean sheets from their last 6 league games, but they’ve still conceded 6 more than Shakhtyor Soligorsk, who have the best defence in the league. Their recent 5-3 away win over FC Smolevichi proved that BATE are still prone to giving away goals on the road.
Our betting tip for this week is an away win with both teams to score at odds of 3.96/1 with Paddy Power. If we had to predict an exact score, we’d go for a 3-1 BATE win.
