Had this match taken place last month, it could’ve been a potential title decider, but a lot has changed since the restart. Bayern are now almost in cruise control, as they are 7 points clear of Dortmund at the top and 14 points clear of their 4th place opponents.

If it weren’t for the empty stadiums as socially distanced celebrations, you’d never guess that this Bayern side had been subjected to an enforced 3 month break. The Reds have certainly picked up where they left off since the restart, as they’ve won all 4 of their games, scoring 12 goals and conceding just 4 in the process. Their hard fought 1 – 0 win against Dortmund saw them put one hand on the Meisterschale, while last week’s 4 -2 away win at Bayer Leverkusen all but sealed their fate as 8 in a row Bundesliga champions.

Mönchengladbach’s form since the restart leaves a lot to be desired, as they’ve won only 1 of their 4 encounters since the Bundesliga resumed last month. They’ve suffered 2 losses at the hands of Leverkusen and Frieburg and saw out a drab 0-0 draw against a struggling Werder Bremen side. Despite their inconsistent form, Gladbach still sit in 4th, the same position they held before the restart, albeit under very different circumstances. They’re now clinging onto 4th spot thanks only to their superior goal difference, and are a whopping 14 points behind Bayern, compared to the 6 point gap they had last month.

Recent Bundesliga encounters between these two sides show a pretty even spread. Of their past 6 meetings, Bayern have won 3 and Mönchengladbach have won 3. Gladbach got the better of Bayern in the reverse fixture back in December, however that was a time when Gladbach were floating above a Bayern side who had not long changed managers following a calamitous start to the season. Even in the days of crowded stadiums, a home advantage hasn’t proven to be much of a factor in this fixture, as last season each side humbled the other on their own patch.

Based on the history between these two sides, the stats so far this season and, most importantly, each sides’ form since the restart we’ve come up with a betting tip that unsurprisingly backs a Bayern win in Munich this Saturday.

Having analysed all of the above information, we’re firmly backing a home win for Bayern Munich, however we don’t think Mönchengladbach will make it easy for them.

While Mönchengladbach have become a bogey team of Bayern’s in recent seasons, and the Reds are without their top scoring and assist duo of Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller, who are both suspended, all the signs still point to a Bayern win.

It could be argued that Gladbach have more to play for here, as anything other than a win will most likely result in them losing 4th spot to Bayern Leverkusen, who have a less daunting away trip to struggling Schalke. We do expect Mönchengladbach to put up one hell of a fight here though, and would back them to score, but just can’t see them sneaking a victory.
