For our Premier League predictions today, we’re focussing on the Midlands, where a buoyant looking Aston Villa host the seemingly unstoppable champions Liverpool at Villa Park. Read on to check out our expert Premier League tips & predictions for this match at Betastic.
Villa make strong start to the season
Villa were among the teams to make a delayed start to the Premier League this season. However Dean Smith’s men have started strong, beating Sheffield United 1-0 followed by a 3-0 away win over Fulham. Currently, they are the only Premier League side to have conceded 0 goals so far this season. However, in coming up against this Liverpool side our Premier League predictions today foresee that bubble bursting this weekend. Although Fulham’s poor performance aided Villa on Monday evening, Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins looked sharp, so we can expect them to cause problems for the Liverpool defence on Sunday.
Reds establish themselves as title favourites
Before the season started, many Premier League predictions experts pitted Manchester City as title favourite. However, Liverpool’s strong start, twinned with City’s defensive disaster class at the weekend have changed the opinions of most. Although the Reds looked shaky in defence in their 4-3 win over Leeds in the opening game, a shutout against Chelsea followed by a 3-1 win over Arsenal, have shown that they have far less to worry about than first thought. Another concern for last season’s runaway champions was their lack of recruitment. However new their quad has now been strengthened thanks to new signings Thiago and Diogo Jota
Villa suffered a bit of a headache in this fixture last season, they went ahead in the first half, only for a rare Andy Robertson goal to tie things up. Despite this, Villa looked certain to hold on for a point, only to be left stunned by a 94th minute winner from the clinical Sadio Mane. The return fixture at Anfield in the post Covid era, ended in a routine 2-0 win for the then confirmed champions. Villa are looking a lot sharper this season than they did in the relegation battling throws of last season’s end however.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed the above information, our Premier League predictions for this one point to a hard fought win for Liverpool on Sunday night.
Liverpool to keep marching on
A surprise Villa win on Sunday evening would undoubtedly blow the title race wide open, and be the preference of the neutral. Unfortunately, however, as impressive as Villa have been in their opening two games, we can’t see them overcoming the champions. As we mentioned above though, Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins should cause Liverpool problems. And as we saw from Robertson’s blunder against Arsenal, Liverpool’s defence is far from airtight. We therefore predict this to be an “out score” victory for Liverpool, rather than a “shut out”. Goals from Liverpool could come from a number of sources. As well as their formidable front 3, a cameo from newboy Jota could produce a second goal to follow up his scoring debut. Our betting tip is therefore a Liverpool win plus both teams to score, for which betway are offering odds of 2.9.
