PLAYING YOUR GOLF BETTING STRATEGY LIKE A PRO
Whilst golf betting is hugely popular, it’s still relatively easy to make a mess of your golf bets. But don’t be put off as we will explain how to bet on golf and lose too much money. The key thing to remember is that as each golf tournament like the Masters features around 100 competitors, then it’s going to be incredibly tricky to predict the overall tournament winner. As such, you are going to need to put in plenty of research and find some luck if you hope to get the desired result from your bet.
Despite this, there are still plenty of punters out there who have managed to win some respectable golf bets. By carefully evaluating the golf odds on offer from different bookmakers, experienced golf betting fans are able to spot when some odds are too good to ignore, and they will know how much to wager in order to offset those inevitable betting losses.
So how do you know when to take up a bookie’s golf odds? Ultimately you are going to have to know the form of each golf player inside-out so that you can take advantage of the most generous odds on the market. You can do this by checking up on the various players’ rankings as well as looking over their recent playing record and reading any rumours regarding injuries and so on. Whilst this might sound fairly exhaustive, if you come to Betastic, we will highlight the best golf betting odds and provide you with some handy tips for making the most of your golf bets. What’s great is that you can use many different guides like our

A QUICK WORD ABOUT RESPONSIBLE GOLF BETTING
When it comes to big golf tournaments like the PGA Championship, it’s all too easy to get caught up in the emotion and put down larger bets than you initially intended. But all experienced golf betting enthusiasts will know that it’s only by establishing reasonable betting budgets that they are going to be able to last the distance on gruelling four-day tournaments like this. So be sure to only make golf bets with money that you can afford to lose, and then any subsequent potential winnings will seem all the sweeter.
As golf is one of the world’s most popular sports, it goes without saying that most bookmakers will have no problem in serving up plenty of competitive odds for all top golf events. This presents you with the tricky choice of deciding where to place your golf bets. But by coming to Betastic you will be able to quickly get a helpful overview of how reliable each bookie is, and we will also highlight who has the best track record for good value golf bets. Remember that you don’t have to stick with just one bookmaker, and there’s plenty to be made by picking up any welcome bonuses that they may have. Just don’t forget to read those all-important terms and conditions.
- Come to Betastic to see which bookies made our shortlist
- Compare each bookie’s golf odds to make sure that you get the best value bets
- Check to see whether a bookmaker’s welcome bonus can be used for your golf bets
CHOOSE YOUR GOLF WAGER FROM A VARIETY OF POPULAR BET TYPES
Most decent bookmakers will give you a good range of different golf bets to wager on for each tournament. By picking and choosing from some of the following golf betting types, you can enjoy a much more varied approach to your golf betting.
WAGER ON THE TOURNAMENT WINNER
This is one of the most popular golf bets and it’s also one of the easiest. You should be able to bet on the outright winner on all top tournaments like the Masters, the US Open, the Open Championship and the PGA Championship. Most bookies will also allow you to wager on the winner of each competition in the PGA Tour, the European Tour and much more. However, you can do much more than just predict the name of the tournament winner, as some bookies allow you to wager on their nationality and other interesting aspects of the winning competitor.
WHAT IS ROUND BETTING IN GOLF?
Just because you are waiting for your tournament-winner bet to be settled doesn’t mean that you’ve run out of golf wagering options. This is because you should be able to wager on which player will win each individual round. In tournaments like the Masters where there are four rounds, this is a fun way to add some excitement to the action. Don’t forget that you might also be able to wager on whether there will be a final play-off stage too.
TRY LIVE GOLF BETTING
As you might have seen from our
how to bet on wrestling
guide, it’s not just sports like football, tennis and cricket that have enjoyed the live betting revolution, as you can also take in-play bets in real-time on golf. This means that you can try predicting the total margin of victory or even get in there early to wager on who will be heading the leaderboard on the first round after the first three holes. All of which means that you’ll have plenty of ways to enjoy betting on golf.
THE TOP GOLF TOURNAMENTS TO KEEP YOUR BETTING EYE ON
Whilst there’s plenty of fun to be had in wagering on some of the smaller tournaments on the European Tour and the PGA Tour, if you are looking for the most competitive odds and the best golf betting promotions, we would recommend that you bet on the following golf tournaments.
THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
This legendary UK golf tournament takes place every July, and it has been running since way back in 1860 which makes it the oldest of the four major championships. We recently saw Francesco Molinari defy the bookies to win the 2018 Open, but previous champions have included Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Tiger Woods who won the tournament on three separate occasions. A big part of the appeal of the Open Championship is that it takes places on one of 10 links courses around the UK which means that it presents a thrilling spectacle of seeing which golfers will make the cut in some very tricky circumstances.
THE MASTERS
Unlike the other major golf tournaments, the Masters always takes place at the same golf course each April. As such, the Augusta golf club in Georgia has become famous for numerous iconic holes such as Firethorn and Yellow Jasmine that all have the ability to cause even top players to become unstuck. In 2018, we saw the American golfer, Patrick Reed, narrowly beat Rickie Fowler by just one stroke to earn his golfing immortality, whilst Jack Nicklaus has won this tournament a record six times.
THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
This major golf tournament recently switched from August to May, but it still promises to deliver a masterclass in top-level competition. Whilst other tournaments occasionally feature a few amateur players, the PGA Championship is the only major to be reserved exclusively for professional golf stars. Brooks Koepka fired his way to PGA Championship victory at Missouri’s Bellerive Country Club in 2018, but it’s worth noting that Tiger Woods managed to make an excellent come-back to reach the runner’s up spot.
THE US OPEN
This epic contest takes place every June, and is well-known for picking golf courses that are a real test of the golfer’s driving skills. In 2018 we once again saw the American star, Brooks Koepka, claim the US Open title in Shinnecock Hills, New York. But he will have some way to go before he catches up with the likes of Jack Nicklaus who is one of the four players to have won this competition no less than four times.
