What is the matched betting strategy?

A successful matched betting strategy looks to find as many free bets and bonuses, without losing too much money when laying the liability of the bets at the exchange. Simply put, we buy our bets from the bookmaker, then sell them at the betting exchange. Finding a close match, where the odds are close is vital. The aim is to be rewarded with the free bet afterwards, and
it is the free bet where the profits are made!
Let’s say we’ve found an offer that requires the bettor to bet at odds –100 or above. Bet $10 at odds –100, or more and receive a free $30 bet.

qualifying bet.
The next step would be to “sell” the bet, by laying it on a betting exchange. We look on the betting exchange, such as Betfair, and see it is a perfect match at decimal odds of 2.05. We place $10 on Brazil and then lay it on a betting exchange. This presents the following outcomes:
Brazil win
= we win $10.50 from bookmaker, but lose $10.50 from exchange
Brazil loses
= we win $10.00 from exchange, but lose $10.00 from bookmaker bet
What we have successfully done here is use this “buying and selling” of the bookmaker bet, purposely to gain this $30 free bet. The exciting part comes next!
Laying free bets – the closer the match the better!
The procedure of profiting from a free bet uses the above example, in an opposite manner. The only difference used in this matched betting strategy of laying free bets is we look for higher odds.
With our $30 free bet in another soccer analogy:
USA are +1000 odds to beat Brazil with bookmaker
USA are also 11.0 odds to lay at Betfair [+1000 is the same as 11.0 decimal]
Here’s the math…
We could lay $30 at odds 11.0 decimal, and receive +$30 from exchange, if USA did NOT win
We could simply back the USA and not lay, and win $300, if the USA won!
However, to lock-in secure profit, we look to lay around 70-90% of the free bet stake. Since this bet is an exact match, and has no “qualifying loss”, this allows us to extract around 90% of the $30 free bet amount.
We lay around 90% of our free bet ($27) on the betting exchange. We have used our free bet on the USA, at odds +1000.
If USA win = we win +$300 from bookmaker
But lose $273 from betting exchange = +$27
If USA draw or lose
We have not lost, since our bet was a free bet, yet win $27 from the betting exchange!
Sounds too good to be true, right! But the math doesn’t lie.
We can then rinse and repeat the above process as many times as possible, using welcome offers and ongoing offers!
